Usual Services

Everyone is welcome to any of our services.

You don't have to book, dress up, know anything. Just turn up. There is a large car park next to the church with the space opposite the church available for those needing assistance. The church and toilet are fully accessible. We have a T loop (but sit nearer the front for best effect.)

Our congregation are friendly and will help you find your way around. We offer refreshments after all 11.00 services.

All our services are either adapted for all ages or provide groups for children. The soundproof chapel is available for any needing a time out. Baby changing facilities are available.

Services for Children aged 5-11

Explorers takes place during the morning service on 3rd Sundays.

We meet at 10.30am and then join the church service around 12.00, finishing at 12.15..

Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.  We go exploring, following a theme usually based on a bible story, (anyone for Noah after the recent weather?)  Bring boots and tough clothing; we do get dirty!

Crew  meet in the Chapel during the morning service on a 4th Sunday.  We follow up the story used in Explorers the previous week.

Services at 8.30am

2nd and 4th Sundays: Prayer Book Holy Communion. This is a simple service with no hymns and lasts about 30 minutes. The language is old but beautiful.

3rd Sundays: Morning Prayer. Again, simple.

There are no 8.30 services on the 1st and 5th Sundays of the month.

Services at 11.00

1st Sunday: Family Communion. A shorter service of Holy Communion suitable for all ages. Lasts about 1 hour.

2nd Sunday: Family Service. All age service  that lasts about 45 minutes or 60 minutes if we have a Christening.

3rd Sunday: Holy Communion. A traditional communion service. It lasts about 75 minutes. During the communion there is an opportunity to have the Prayer Team pray with you. Older children are invited to join the Explorers (see above.)

4th Sunday: Morning Prayer. Usually a Celtic form but occasionally we use the Prayer Book service. If the Ministers are organised we have an opportunity to hear what members of the congregation have been doing, be it cleaning the brass, running a café, visiting prisons or serving in Afghanistan.

During this service the older children (5+) are invited to join the Crew group.

The service typically lasts about an hour.

5th Sunday: If there is a 5th Sunday in the month we have our Songs of Praise, which is almost but not quite entirely unlike the television version. Anyway, we sing hymns chosen by members of the congregation. Lasts about 45 minutes.

Services at 6.30pm:

1st Sunday: Alternative Worship. A bit of a surprise package as it can be anything from Prayer Book Evening Prayer to full-blown guitars and drums. Refreshments served from 6.00pm and the service lasts up to 45 minutes.

4th Sunday: Quiet Service. Does what it says. A few words, some quiet music and a lot of quiet. Lasts up to 45 minutes
